So I went to see Jon Stewert do stand up Saturday night. I heard on Howard Stern that Jon Stewert got paid six figures to do stand-up on Saturday night. There's something wrong in and of itself there, but we'll move past that.
And here's the thing, Jon Stewert is not as funny live as he is on The Daily Show. Which is not to say that Jon Stewert isn't funny live. It's just to say that a lot of Jon Stewert's material works better when there's a visual to go along with it. That's all I'm saying. But you shouldn't think that I'm not saying that Jon Stewert was kick ass funny, because he was.
I can't do the material justice rehashing it, but there was some funny stuff about Dick Cheney being the dark lord who gets sent in when a problem is so repulsive nobody else will handle it. There was some funny stuff comparing the people on the far left to the people on the far right to the rest of us who "have shit to do" and can't be bothered being that extreme. You'd probably have been suprised by how not liberal some of his set was. I mean, again, don't get me wrong. There was a decidedly liberal bent to everything, but it was less leftist than you might expect.
I thought I would have more to write about Jon Stewert, but not so much. If you have a chance to see him live, it's definitely worth it. Especially if he does his bit about the internal monologue of a conservative who's opposed to gay marriage. And also, Dave Chappele.
And also, for people who come to Vegas, I'm surprised I'm saying this because it seemed like it was going to be underwhelming, but the sushi here is outstanding.
Just a few things off topic:
- Yes, we'll be returning to some follow-up posts on Maureen Dowd on Monday.
- Pookie: HOLIDAY LETTER
- Catwoman: What's your thought on this? Like, in the fall when it will be beautiful
- I'm so glad they made another Peyton Manning commercial with him as the fan of the average people. That shit is funny.
- This Indy/Cincy game is amazing. I'm going to kill this lame-ass update and get back to watchingi t.
