It Must Be In the Water
Goodbye Pappa Conaway

Post Date: 3/24/05
Original Journal Date: 3/24/05

Yesterday Pappa Conaway passed away. It's very, very, very sad to imagine his not being here, but this story sums him up and serves him well.

Pappa Conaway was never seen without mutton chops, a trucker baseball cap, cigarettes and coffee. Okay, actually he was seen without coffee. It was when he was driving. On the day the coroner, who was also the deputy sherrif came to collect Pappa Conaway's body, Mamma Conaway asked said coroner to remove the gun from Pappa Conaway's pants pocket before he took him away.

Coroner
He was packing in his own house?

Mamma Conaway
He was always packing.

Later, one of the Sons Conaway says to Mamma Conaway:

Son of Conaway
They cleaned out his pockets. The found one money clip and one other clip. You know, an ammo clip. He had an extra ammo clip in his pocket.

Mamma Conaway
What? you didn't know he carried an extra clip? I knew he carried a clip.

God bless John Conaway and let him hunt, smoke and drink black coffee in heaven. When the revolution came to the backwoods, John Conaway was not going to be holed up in his home without a full stock of ammo.

I pack too!

God bless the NRA.
