It's been a while, eh?

Let me tell you what you may never want: You may never want to own the responsibility for a sports-related marketing effort and go through a July dev process with your lead designer and one of your best marketing-minded techies both on extended holiday. So, life pretty much went away.

Here's a run down of what's going on, peppered up with some spicy opinions here and there.

I'm reading ... Jonathan Strange & Mr. Norrell. Which is good reading. Though it's also the kind of reading where I rarely read more than a chapter a day. It's fantastic daily reading though because it's engrossing episodic reading. You should get a copy, because frankly thus far literary releases this year have been sub-par.

I'm watching on dvd ... Supernatural season 4! And it is as magical as I could have hoped. Yum-liscious.

I'm watching on real tv - So You Think You Can Dance Canada & old episodes of One Tree Hill. Because Chad Michael Murry is hot (not Jensen Ackles hot, but hawt). But let's talk about Canadian versions of American shows for a minute. You've heard me mock it before. Like, the costume budget for SYTYCD Canada is about $50 a week. I think they're buying dance wear at Wal-Mart. But my favorite thing about it is this moment from an audition episode in, like, Prince Edward Island or something like that. And you know how in the US versions they'll get the crowd psyched up and then pan the camera to the massive line of thousands of dancers who want to audition? Well, they pulled that same thing in this episode. But when they panned to the line of dancers from some maritime fishing provence, there were, like, 10 people. In coveralls. I'm not making that up.

I'm listening to ... Nothing all that good.

I'm making ... did you read the opening sentence? Creative juices are on hold.

I'm dating ... yep, keep hoping on that one, because I've learned my lesson about talking about it here. Though I may tell the amazing text message story here later.

I'm hoping to write about ... Shimmy's wedding, mountain climbing, my west coast tour, visits to Montreal this summer, mis-use of your Facebook status update, that long-ago summer trip to Vegas.

I'm proud of ... a lot of my friends who are soldiering through new adventures, hard choices and the downsides of life.

I miss ... good sushi, good cocktails, Vegas summers, San Francisco bars, football season in western PA, Mongolia.

Ok, this part will be more fun. One of each of the following is true in each case. Only one. You can figure them out on your own. It's cheating if you already know.

1. Which of the following is a true statement I made about a Friday night a couple of weeks ago?
a. "Friday night is just *not the same* without "Terminator: Sara Conner Chronicals" and "Dollhouse."

b. "It was good. It involved lots of drugs, lots of sex and a dvd copy of 'My Bloody Valentine'."

c. "I woke up the next morning and somebody just slapped a hand over my eyes and said 'WHATEVER YOU DO, DO NOT LOOK AT THE OTHER SIDE OF THE ROOM'. "

2. Which of the following is NOT something stupid I did this week:
a. Called our tech department in a panic only to have one of them say "Did you remember to hit the save button?"

b. Used a towel to take a baked potato out of the oven, then grabbed the metal fork stuck into the potoato to cook the middle more quickly with my bare hand and had to type left handed only all day long.

c. Missed the metro because I looked at the wrong time zone on my iPhone world clock.

3. Which of the following did I consider doing this week?
a. Getting a second kitty cat friend for Rooney.

b. Taking a job in Hong Kong, with the added benefit that I'd be near my cousin.

c. DIRTY APACHE

That last one is funnier in my head than when I wrote it.

  • Hmm.. Here are my answers to your questions:
    1. I know you wrote me about option B, and techincally option C is about Saturday morning so that could have happened too.
    2. I would have to go with option C
    3. I will go with option A on a kitty friend for Rooney, however if you moved to Asia that would be totally a sweet deal for me!!!
